Apostle Ralph G. Shammah Nichol

Apostle Nichol is the Senior
Pastor and Overseer of
the Deliverance
Evangelistic
Center
(DEC Ministries). He is a native son of
Newark, New Jersey, where he grew up and soon learned
that life is choice driven. Making bad decisions as a
young man brought many pitfalls his way including drug
addiction and incarceration.
In 1963 he married his childhood sweetheart the late
Evangelist Patricia Alee Williams Nichol and began a
family. Eventually the two came to know Christ as their
personal Lord and savior and settled their growing
family in as faithful members of DEC under the late
Apostle Arturo A. Skinner.
Serving faithfully, first as an usher,
then as a junior pastor, Apostle Nichol grew mightily in
God’s calling on his life. Like many sons of
Deliverance, he traveled as a junior pastor preaching
and teaching the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in revivals along the eastern seaboard and
across the country. Laying hands on the sick, seeing
many healed delivered and set many free to a new life in
Christ. Receiving his formal ministerial training at the
Manhattan Bible institute under Dr. Boyce, Brother
Nichol’s desire was simply to grow and help build the
Kingdom.
In March 1975, DEC's founder, Apostle
Skinner died suddenly. In June of that same year
Apostle Ralph G. Shammah Nichol formally became the Senior
Pastor. Only thirty-five years old at the time,
and with a growing family which would eventually
included eight children, Apostle Nichol took the helm
and weathered the internal storms to stabilize the
ministry and leadership. With steadfast
faithfulness and a willingness to work for the
Kingdom he brought youthful enthusiasm to DEC. Street campaigns and tent revivals became a
hallmark of his ministry. He is known throughout the
city as a man of integrity committed to God’s Word.
Heading such a large organization had many challenges
along the way, yet none perhaps as great as when the
love of his life, his beloved Alee died in October of
1995. He thought life was over for him too, but God had
still more for him to do.
In 2000 he married his second blessing in the person of
Lady Rosalind Nzinga Nichol. She now serves faithfully
with him as Co-Pastor of DEC Ministries. They are also
doubly blessed to have five of his eight children and
their spouses working at their side in the ministry, reaching new generations with THE POWER OF PENTECOST!
In June 2005, Apostle Nichol and the DEC family
celebrated his 30th year as Pastor of the Deliverance
Evangelistic Center, Inc. In 2006 Apostle and Lady
Nichol launched the
Nehemiah Project in partnership with
the Clinton Hill community to restore unity, safety and
prosperity to the South Ward of Newark, New Jersey.
